The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) set forth 14 Grand Challenges to address the world’s most pressing societal issues that can be solved with innovative engineering. Issues such as access to clean drinking water, restoring & improving urban infrastructure, and making solar energy economical merely illustrate the magnitude and complexity of these Grand Challenges.
History of the Program
Some of the leading universities across the nation are starting their own GCSP. Each GCSP is tailor-made to fit the hosting university. Not only that, but each program is made to fit each student as a GC Scholar within the program. The UTAustin GCSP is an interdisciplinary program where students from all majors can learn a formal certificate for their research and work with Grand Challenges.
