"The complexity of energy and climate issues have interested me from an early age, and starting in my first semester of college I chose to focus on the Grand Challenge to provide energy from fusion. Through the guidance of the GCSP I was able to study renewable energy in Iceland and New Zealand, conduct fusion research in both academia and industry, and explore a multidisciplinary curriculum. These memorable learning experiences motivated me to pursue a graduate degree, and I am continuing to research fusion energy as a PhD candidate at Princeton University. The program also taught me the value of cooperating with other disciplines, and in addition to my technical work I enjoy participating in conversations to help shape energy policy."
